Mega Millions is America's second-largest multi-state lottery, drawn Tuesday and Friday. Players select five numbers from 1 to 70 and one Mega Ball from 1 to 24. The game matrix changed in April 2025 from /25 to /24 Mega Ball options. Starting jackpots begin at US$50 million (raised from US$20 million in April 2025). Nine divisions reward winners. Built-in multiplier (2x–10x) increases non-jackpot prizes. Mega Millions tickets cost US$5 per game, raised from US$2 as of the 2025-04-08 draw.
Lottery FM publishes each Mega Millions result within minutes of the official draw, with every division, the winner count and the prize paid. Division 1 has not been won for 9 draws.
How to play Mega Millions
Lottery FM does not sell tickets — this is how the game works wherever you buy one.
Mega Millions requires selecting five numbers from 1 to 70 and one Mega Ball from 1 to 24. Tickets cost US$5 per game (raised from US$2 as of the 2025-04-08 draw). Draws occur Tuesday and Friday. Division 1 (all five numbers plus Mega Ball) wins the jackpot (minimum US$50 million). Nine divisions accommodate winners matching various combinations: five numbers without Mega Ball, four with Mega Ball, four without, three with/without, two with Mega Ball, one with Mega Ball, and Mega Ball alone. Multiplier (2x–10x) applies to non-jackpot prizes. A winning ticket is claimed in the state or jurisdiction where it was bought, through that jurisdiction's own lottery. Claim periods vary by jurisdiction, typically 90 days to a year from the draw date.

What's the minimum jackpot?$50M — when no Division 1 winner is found, the prize rolls into the next draw. The largest historical jackpot for Mega Millions was US$1.602B (Aug 2023).
How are the prize divisions calculated?Outside California, only the Mega Millions jackpot is pari-mutuel. Divisions 2 through 9 pay fixed amounts based on the ticket's randomly assigned multiplier. For example, Match 5 pays $2 million at 2x and up to $10 million at 10x. California is the exception: all prize divisions are paid pari-mutuel under state rules.
