Prize divisions & odds

pick 6 from 40
Odds are per line/ticket as published by Lotto NZ. NZ Powerball's Division 7 pays a fixed NZ$20 cash prize and Division 8 a fixed NZ$12 cash prize for each winning selection, not a share of sales. Every other division, including the Division 1 jackpot, is pari-mutuel and rolls over into the next draw when Division 1 is unclaimed. Unofficial — reconcile your ticket before claiming.

Frequently asked

What are the Powerball prize divisions?
Powerball has 8 prize divisions. Division 1 (the jackpot) is reserved for entries matching every main number plus the Powerball. Lower divisions reward partial matches, with prize amounts decreasing as the match requirements ease.
What's the minimum jackpot?
NZ$5M — when no Division 1 winner is found, the prize rolls into the next Powerball draw and the jackpot grows. The largest historical jackpot we track for Powerball is NZ$55M (Nov 2025, Must Be Won).
What were the latest Powerball division payouts?
Latest Powerball draw had 8 divisions. Division 1 rolled over — estimated NZ$6M into the next draw.
How are prize amounts calculated?
Powerball's Division 7 pays a fixed NZ$20 cash prize and Division 8 a fixed NZ$12 cash prize, to every winning selection, not a share of sales. Every other division, including the Division 1 jackpot, is pari-mutuel — a share of that draw's prize pool split among each division's own winners — and Division 1 rolls into the next draw's jackpot when unclaimed.
How do I claim a Powerball prize?
Claim through the official Lotto NZ, not through this site — smaller prizes can usually be paid at any authorised retailer, while larger amounts require contacting the operator directly with the original ticket and ID. New Zealand prizes must be claimed within 12 months of the date the winning numbers were drawn; a prize not claimed within that window is forfeited and the money is paid into the prize reserve fund, not held open for a late claim.
Are Powerball prizes taxed?
Powerball (NZ) prizes are paid free of New Zealand income tax. As with any windfall, recipients should consider tax on subsequent investment earnings.
Are the prize numbers on this page official?
Numbers shown are aggregated from public draw broadcasts and operator pages. Always reconcile against Lotto NZ's own record before claiming any prize. We do not pay prizes and have no affiliation with the operating lottery.
