Powerball has 7 prize divisions. Division 1 (the jackpot) is reserved for entries matching every main number plus the Powerball. Lower divisions reward partial matches, with prize amounts decreasing as the match requirements ease.

NZ$4M — when no Division 1 winner is found, the prize rolls into the next Powerball draw and the jackpot grows. The largest historical jackpot we track for Powerball is NZ$55M (Nov 2025, Must Be Won).

Powerball's Division 7 pays a fixed NZ$15 cash prize to every winning selection, not a share of sales. Every other division, including the Division 1 jackpot, is pari-mutuel — a share of that draw's prize pool split among each division's own winners — and Division 1 rolls into the next draw's jackpot when unclaimed.

Claim through the official Lotto NZ, not through this site — smaller prizes can usually be paid at any authorised retailer, while larger amounts require contacting the operator directly with the original ticket and ID. New Zealand prizes must be claimed within 12 months of the date the winning numbers were drawn; a prize not claimed within that window is forfeited and the money is paid into the prize reserve fund, not held open for a late claim.

Powerball (NZ) prizes are paid free of New Zealand income tax. As with any windfall, recipients should consider tax on subsequent investment earnings.
