Nora G. was in the kitchen at home, checking her Lotto Max ticket on the BCLC Lotto! App, when she found out she had won. She told the BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC) that seeing the prize amount on the app left her shocked, CHEK News reported.
She is from Port Alberni, B.C. Her ticket won a C$100,000 MAXPLUS prize in the Lotto Max draw of August 11, 2026.
What the ticket won
The ticket was not bought in Port Alberni. BCLC says it was sold at the Petro-Canada on Hyde Creek Road in Port McNeill, Victoria Buzz reported.
Her prize came from MAXPLUS, which is separate from the main Lotto Max jackpot. The Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC), another of the regional corporations that sell the game, says all seven numbers on one line must match to win or share $100,000, at odds of 1 in 33,446,140 per $6 play. Every draw is random, and odds like that describe a genuine long shot.
The winning numbers are in the full results for that night's draw.
Her husband first, then the kids
Her husband was the first to hear. Once she had told him, the couple waited a few days, and then she let their kids know at her husband's birthday dinner, she said in comments reported by CHEK News.
Margaritas and the mortgage
She told BCLC she might enjoy some margaritas after claiming her prize, CHEK News reported. Then come the plans for the money itself. According to Yahoo News Canada, she told BCLC she intends to use it to pay off the mortgage and help her children.
The plans she named for her Lotto Max win stay close to home: some margaritas, the mortgage, her children.
