Frequently asked

What are the Powerball prize divisions?
Powerball has 9 prize divisions. Division 1 (the jackpot) is reserved for entries matching every main number plus the Powerball. Lower divisions reward partial matches, with prize amounts decreasing as the match requirements ease.
What's the minimum jackpot?
A$5M — when no Division 1 winner is found, the prize rolls into the next Powerball draw and the jackpot grows. The largest historical jackpot we track for Powerball is $200M (2024).
What were the latest Powerball division payouts?
Latest Powerball draw had 9 divisions. Division 1 rolled over — estimated A$60M into the next draw.
How are prize amounts calculated?
Most Powerball divisions are pari-mutuel: a fixed percentage of the prize pool is split equally among that division's winners. With more winners in a tier, each ticket gets less; with fewer winners, more. Some lower divisions or jackpot-side games may use a fixed-prize structure instead.
How do I claim a Powerball prize?
Claim through the official The Lott jurisdictions / Lotterywest (WA), not through this site — smaller prizes can usually be paid at any authorised retailer, while larger amounts require contacting the operator directly with the original ticket and ID. Australia has no single national claim window: it depends on the jurisdiction the ticket was bought in. Queensland allows 7 years to claim; NSW and the ACT allow 6 years; the Northern Territory allows 3 years; Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia each allow 12 months initially. Check the rules for the jurisdiction the ticket was purchased in before assuming a shorter window applies.
Are Powerball prizes taxed?
Powerball prizes are paid free of Australian income tax. Recipients should still consider Centrelink means-testing on the amount itself, and that gifting some of it on as an asset, or income and capital gains the money earns afterwards — bank interest or investment growth, for example — can raise separate income-tax or CGT questions. Australia has no general gift duty on cash gifts between individuals.
Are the prize numbers on this page official?
Numbers shown are aggregated from public draw broadcasts and operator pages. Always reconcile against The Lott jurisdictions / Lotterywest (WA)'s own record before claiming any prize. We do not pay prizes and have no affiliation with the operating lottery.
