The ticket was a Quick Pick, bought on the day of the draw at the Texaco Spar Service Station on John Street in Carrick on Suir, Co. Tipperary. That night, Friday 9 October 2026, it won the €500,000 EuroMillions Plus top prize. Ireland's National Lottery announced the win on 10 October.
Five numbers in the Plus draw
EuroMillions Plus is an option for people who play EuroMillions in Ireland. According to the National Lottery, it means having your first five main numbers entered into a EuroMillions Plus draw, for a chance to win up to €500,000.
The EuroMillions Plus numbers drawn on Friday 9 October were 1, 12, 20, 22 and 42. The National Lottery's results show one winner of the Plus top prize. The full results for that night's draw show the EuroMillions Plus numbers alongside the main EuroMillions numbers.
National Lottery spokesperson Emma Monaghan said it was set to be a memorable weekend for one EuroMillions player in Tipperary. More than 45,000 players in Ireland won prizes across the EuroMillions and EuroMillions Plus draws that night, she said, and she called the Tipperary player the biggest winner of the night.
The National Lottery's advice to the ticket holder
The National Lottery did not name the winner. Its announcement advises the Friday-night winner to sign the back of their ticket, keep it safe and contact its Prize Claims team, and says arrangements will be made for the prize to be collected at Lottery HQ.
What's interesting here is where the prize came from. One Quick Pick from Carrick on Suir was in two draws that Friday night: the main EuroMillions draw and the EuroMillions Plus draw. The €500,000 came from the second. A EuroMillions Plus top prize is a genuine long shot, and the draw that decides it is random.
