Australian Set for Life is adding an upfront payment to its top two Divisions from Draw 4057 on Monday 14 September 2026. Lotterywest, which runs the game in Western Australia, published the detail and says the start is subject to regulatory approval. In Western Australia the cost of a game goes up as part of the same update, while the odds of winning, Lotterywest says, stay exactly where they are.
Set for Life is one national draw with one prize structure, but it is sold in Western Australia by Lotterywest and elsewhere in Australia by The Lott, so every price and sales-window figure below is Lotterywest's, published for Western Australia.
A lump sum lands before the monthly payments start
Division 1 adds a new A$200,000 upfront payment on top of its A$20,000 a month for 20 years, which makes the first instalment A$220,000. Division 2 adds A$20,000 upfront on top of A$5,000 a month for 12 months, for a first instalment of A$25,000.
Those are the two Divisions Lotterywest's update names.
70c a game, and an odds table that does not move
Lotterywest puts the price and the prizes in the same breath: to support the increased prizes, the cost to play increases from 60c to 70c per game, plus retailer commission. The minimum entry requirement is unchanged — one game in a single-week (7-day) ticket — at a new minimum entry cost of A$5.60.
The odds, though, do not move. Lotterywest states that the odds of winning, and what a player needs to match, remain the same across all Divisions. On its published table that is 1 in 38,320,568 for Division 1 and 1 in 81 for Division 8. Set for Life is drawn daily, and each draw is independent of every draw before it, so past results tell you nothing about the next one.
Western Australia's dates on the way to Draw 4057
Lotterywest set the transition out as dated windows:
-
7:01pm 30 June to 7:00pm 13 September — some of the usual Advance Play and Multiweek tickets unavailable.
-
7:01pm 7 September to 7:00pm 13 September — Set for Life cannot be purchased in Western Australia.
-
Monday 14 September 2026 — Draw 4057, the first draw with the new prizes and the new price, subject to regulatory approval.
Buying a ticket around the Draw 4057 changeover
Set for Life sales in Western Australia are suspended from 7:01pm on 7 September to 7:00pm on 13 September. Lotterywest says tickets can be bought again after draw close at 7:01pm on Sunday 13 September. Saved selections survive the change: Lotterywest says Favourite Numbers can continue to be played.
Advance Play and Multiweek buyers in Western Australia are the ones the longer window touches. Lotterywest says some of the usual tickets will be unavailable across it.
For anything about an entry bought before the changeover, Lotterywest is the operator to ask in Western Australia. Outside Western Australia, The Lott is the operator that publishes the local price and sales dates. Past results and the shape of the daily draw are on our Set for Life results page.
If gambling is no longer fun, free and confidential support is available 24/7 from Gambling Help Online on 1800 858 858.
Always confirm winning numbers, prize amounts, and deadlines with the official operator before acting on a ticket — the operator's published results are the only ones that count.
