The second chapter of this story starts with a cancelled dentist appointment. With an unexpected gap in his day, one of a pair of Western Australian twin brothers called in at Clark's Newsagency in Albany and bought a Millionaire Medley ticket, the Albany Advertiser reported. Back home, he realised he'd bought a Slikpik and forgotten his usual numbers, so he went back to the newsagency for another ticket with the numbers he likes to play. The brothers already knew what a big win felt like: in February 2025 they had won Australia's Set for Life.
A second ticket from the same newsagency
That return trip paid off. The Albany Advertiser reported that their numbers came up in July. Lotterywest's published results show one Western Australian Division One entry that month, in the Weekday Windfall draw of 22 July 2026, with a prize of A$1,000,000 per winning entry and two winning entries nationally. Weekday Windfall is the national Australian game that Western Australians play under the Millionaire Medley name.
What makes it stand out is that this wasn't the brothers' first Division One win. In February 2025, Lotterywest announced that twin brothers had won Division One in Set for Life, the Australian game, which is separate from the UK game of the same name. According to Lotterywest, one of the pair bought that winning Slikpik ticket from Clark's Newsagency in Albany, the same shop that sold this year's winning entry. At the time, the brothers said they planned to share the money and buy a home together. Lotterywest's spokesperson then said it was the first time she had seen a set of twins in the Winner's Room together.
This time, Lotterywest spokesperson Nikki Wilson-Smith said two significant wins in such a short period was remarkable, the Albany Advertiser reported.
Paying off the house and heading off in caravans
The brothers said they plan to pay off their home and then buy caravans so they can travel around Australia together, according to the Advertiser. One of them said they had both worked physically demanding jobs all their lives and could now afford to relax a little more.
It's tempting to read a pattern into it: the same brothers, the same newsagency, a Set for Life win followed by a Millionaire Medley one. But the only link between the two tickets is the people who bought them. Every draw is random and independent, so the first win did nothing to make the second more likely, and a Division One prize stays a genuine long shot every time a ticket is bought. The brother who went back for his usual numbers seems to know it. He said he understands the draw is completely random and plays his numbers simply because he likes to, the Advertiser reported.
That may be the most grounded part of the story. There was no system and no secret, just a cancelled appointment, a habit he didn't want to skip, and a draw that happened to go his way.
